Ismael is a member of the resistance to the Escobal Mine, in San Rafael Las Flores, 15 minutes outside the town of Mataquescuintla, Guatemala.
His farm is located roughly 45 minutes from the town center of Mataquescuintla, in the region of Escobal (which is not the same as the mine). After picking, his coffee is driven to Beneficio La Concepcion, a local processing mill, where the coffee is dried on concrete patios.
Ismael’s coffee is extremely complex, with notes of guava, citrus and dark chocolate. It’s simply stunning.
